As you may have noticed that at the same price, you can get the laptops with more RAM and faster CPU. But buying one of them may be the mistake because powerful GPU is very important for the games.

Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is a high-end version. As it includes the major up-gradation of RAM to 16GB and CPU to an Intel Core i7. It can cost you almost £1349 or $1686.25, £150 ($187.5) per upgrade. One year of collect and return warranty will be included with both variants.
The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is quite different from all other laptops of the company. The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is much slimmer and lightweight than the Asus ROG G752VM.
The laptops manage the heat and noise in a tricky way. The laptop is having a shallower keyboard but most of the users still find it easier to use as compared to others.
The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is having the 17.3-inch screen, which is found to be imposing if you are used to 13-inch model nowadays.
It is not portable as the weight of the laptop is around 2.7kg, therefore, it is too heavy to carry it with you 24/7.
And it is very large that it can be fit into any pack. However, within the rooms, users can carry with them as it is not like 4kg gaming laptops.
This does not indicate that the Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is uncomfortable with is gaming habit. The slimmer look attracts many of its customers to its outlets.
But you may have noticed a lot of the decorations from the Asus’s Republic of Gamer series handbook.
The decorations include the logo and couple of decorative slashes light up red inside the lid light up red along with the backlight of Keyboard. Similarly, underneath and on the keyboard, red non-lit flashes has been introduced.
As like the standard high-end gaming laptops, the Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is having a metal lid and all other part is of plastic.
Keyboard surroundings are having a brushed like finish. The main reason behind this design is moody red on black. Therefore, no one is going to expect it as a gaming ultrabook
The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is not featuring an optical drive. Which you may have found in numerous gaming laptops of the company.
However, connectivity is extensive, though. The laptop needs to have an absolute size of the sockets to get meaningful coverage.

On the left side of the laptop, a mini display port along with Thunderbolt, HDMI, USB-C an Ethernet ports, and a USB 3.0 has been placed.
On the right side of the laptop, there are two additional USB 3.0 sockets and a full-size SD card slot.
Keyboard And Touchpad
The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is having a well spaced but a traditional keyboard. There is no extra distance between the keys as seen on heavy-duty gaming laptops such as the Asus G752 and Alienware 17.
The key actions are of high quality and there is excellent resistance to the keys but a little bit shallow. Most of the users have found it more comfortable while typing.
And its anti-ghosting tech permits users to tap the keys as fast as they can without any missed presses.
The laptop contains a red a backlight for matching all other bits of aptitude on the laptop.
Well, if you are having poor lightning or you sitting in a place where you can’t be able to use the lights. Then the WSAD keys are bright enough to be used by you.
You can expect that someone has asked the company to add the feature as most of the people like to use the laptop at night.
The laptop is having a 17-inch frame, which provides enough space for the num pad. But the company did not introduce the traditional macro keys, as used in most of the laptops.
The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM is having a traditional trackpad just like the keyboard. It is very small for this model because most of the gaming laptops are having huge trackpads.
But the company might have assumed that most of the gamers use a mouse rather than the trackpad, this may be the reason behind this.
The trackpad’s surface is smooth and contains integrated buttons means which do not produce noise and not difficult to click.
The main defect in it is a driver issue, due to which the cursor continues to move around the screen at times. This may be due to the high sensitivity which involves the appearance of a second finger for a swipe.
The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM features a 17.3-inch display. The screen does not resemble with the pixel-packed as compared to some of the famous slim and lightweight laptops at the same price.

However, this is still the best resolution for the laptop. At QHD resolution, a laptop’s graphics card can support some of the famous games. But for the 4k gaming, you will have to get a more powerful laptop than this.
The laptop’s screen is an IPS LCD display having a matt finish which applies the reflection into much more scattered and much less distracting splodges of light.
The laptop is featuring a good display quality but not perfect if compared to the conventional laptop screen. For instance, the maximum brightness is 320cd/m2 which is less than that of Asus G752.
It is less searing but it is less likely to be used outside in daylight. Therefore it is not bad and 320cd/m is much bright.
Contrast is slightly less than 1000:1, while the users like to see solid 812:1 in the high-end laptops. Similar to the other matt finish, when the intensity of the backlight is high, it is slightly blue at the back of the screen.
Color performance is good but not in standard settings as it covers 85% of the sRGB color standard. The screen also broadcasts colors outside of sRGB color too.
And, it broadcasts 62.4% of the Adobe RGB and 71.9% of DCI P3. Therefore, color performance is a bit good but in the case of standard settings, it is not good as it should be.
The screen has the parts to fit in with its high-end emulator. These laptops are using the mixed hardware of entry-level and high level.
The laptop features 8GB of DDR4 RAM and a 128GB SSD along with 1 TB hard drive. It might be slower than the SSD, which you uses to store the most played game as the games stored in SSD will load more immediately.
The Asus ROG Strix GL702VM has core i5-6300 HQ CPU which can be upgraded, as preferred mostly in gaming PCs.
It is having a quad-core CPU, which makes it faster than the dual-core i7 processors as you have noticed in other ultrabooks. After the upgrades, the CPU will be worth more powerful.
In Thief benchmark, the CPU manages 66.4fps and 75.5fps at 1080p and 720p respectively. In Allien Isolation, the laptop manages 197fps and 135fps at 720p and at 1080p with max settings respectively.
This is comparatively faster than that of GTX 1060 because we have witnessed the improvement in driver since it is launched.
As most of the gamers demand 1080p gaming laptops and this is a fine option for them. As GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 laptops are very much expensive. Therefore, their power is used only in the models featuring 1080p resolution.
Well, it is much difficult to assume how much the GTX 1060 is better than the GT 960M introduced in the previous year.
Because the new laptop cards are much closer to the desktop as Nvidia’s performance boosts up more than that of Pascal generation.
Looking back at Thief test, the Intel Core i5-6300HQ processor is proficient. And it is even more powerful than the MacBook Pro’s CPU with the touch panel.
The users can be able to edit video on the laptops. The laptop scores 9393 in the Geekbench 4 and you can also expect that core i7 may score 12000 points.
In PC Mark 8, the laptop gains 3633 points which should be considered as the great result for Intel Core i5 laptop.
Most of the time, these laptops remain silent and produces a light inoffensive whoosh during light gaming. However, it warms up the area above and underneath the keyboard.
However, when the users utilize the CPU at max level, the user will notice that after 10 mins the fan will spin faster and then produces the low pitch noticeable noise.
Let us talk about the speakers, there is more bass than the average and smooth midrange. Which shows that it is better for games and movies than a low-end type thin laptop speaker.
Treble accuracy is inadequate, which makes the laptops sound more stifling and the deep little bit similar to the MacBook Pro.
At times the users can expect 10-20 percent extra volume. Although many of the users use headphone or headset for the games.
The company has used HQ-series CPU instead of low-power U-series. This indicates that these laptops are not having an astronomical battery life.
But, if we compare with other gaming laptops, these laptops are having a good battery life accordingly.
The laptop can last for 4 hours and 55 minutes if the users play a 720p video on loop at 120cd/m screen brightness.
This is good for the laptops that are not used for the ultra-portable use. As it can be used for long meetings, train journeys or any other reason for which you want to use the laptop without plugging charger.
Well, when the user is playing games they can expect that these laptops can only last for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
