Nowadays if users want to buy a laptop under $350. Usually, they look for low-end laptops featuring low-res screen, lackluster design, dull and ordinary performance. But, Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM does not fall into this category.
The $349 Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM is delivering a good colorful 1080p resolution, a solid build quality along with a suitable Core i3 processor.
It has a suitable battery life of more than 8 hours. It features a DVD drive and every port that you can expect from it. The size of Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM is almost 15.6 inch, therefore, we can call it as the best budget laptop.

Acer Aspire E 15 comprises sturdy black plastic having a dark gray color. It has a matte lid having stubble crosshatch pattern and texture.

It features an additional deck which resembles much like a fake smooth aluminum. It looks like this notebook is having solid build quality as it remains silent during the use.
The keyboard of Acer Aspire E 15 is good as it does not give any indication of being flex during typing.
Acer Aspire E 15 is 10.2 x 1.5 x 1.2 inches and it weighs around 5.06 pounds, which shows that it is a bit large.
But it is not much larger than an average 15-inch budget laptop. The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 weighs 5.2 pounds but it is 0.92 inches and thinner than this notebook.
However, the HP Notebook 15-ba009dx is0.96 inches thin and weighs 4.6 pounds. The Asus VivoBook E403SA is 0.7 inches thick and has a weight of 3.18 pounds.
Ports And Connections
The Acer Aspire E 15 is thick enough to have more space for both DVD writer and every other conceivable port.
The left side of the laptop is having a full-size Ethernet port along with two USB 3.0 connectors, HDMI-out, VGA-out, and a USB Type-C 3.1 port.
Enough ports are included. You can use USB Type-C 3.1 port for data transfer but not for charging.
On the right side, there is a DVD drive, a third USB port along with a 3.5mm audio jack. On the front side, there is an SD card reader.
Keyboard And Touchpad
Acer Aspire E 15 is having a good keyboard and it provides a good typing experience. Fortunately, there has been no type of shallowness or flex that is being found in most of the laptops.
The distance between Keys is 1.5mm and the users are required 64 grams of pressure to press the key. The key travel is good but the pressure should be around 40’s or 50’s.
The keyboard is featuring a dedicated numeric keypad which allows you to use a calculator and entering data into spreadsheets easier.
Acer Aspire E 15 is featuring a 4.2 x 3inch buttonless touchpad, capable of providing gently-accurate navigation around the desktop. But its surface is a bit slippery.
There may be a little bit trouble regarding pinch to zoom on the pad, as it is unable to respond whenever you use this gesture either in Window’s photo app or on Chrome browser.
But, it allows you to use three fingers swiping for switching between different apps stored/opened in the laptop.
Yes, it is very rare for you to find a laptop which is offering 1920 x 1080 display for less than $400. This display is capable of covering a lot of colors.
Acer Aspire E 15 is having a 15.6-inch screen, which is capable of providing 1080p resolution with energetic tunes.
Unfortunately, it allows you to have a less accurate and limited number of viewing angles. Yes, just like all other laptops, it does oversaturate colors and this may be a negative side of the screen.
According to a colorimeter, Acer Aspire E 15 is capable of reproducing an impressive 159% of the sRGB colors.
And, it is even more than the mainstream laptop reproducing an average of 94% of sRGB color.
HP Notebook 15 manages to reproduce 70% of sRGB colors, Asus VivoBook E403SA and Dell Inspiron 15 5000 manages to reproduce 68% and 72% of sRGB colors.
This shows that Acer Aspire E 15 beats all laptops at this price. Unfortunately, these laptops provide less viewing angles due to which you can clearly see dark images from the left and right side of a laptop at 45 degrees.
It is not recommended to use these laptops in direct sunlight. As Acer Aspire E 15 has been able to produce 215 nits on a light meter.
And it is less than the average of 276 nits but it is much better than 174 nits and 201 nits being scored by the Notebook 15 and VivoBook E403SA. The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 nearly reached the score of Acer Aspire E 15 by scoring 213 nits.
Acer Aspire E 15 features good speakers which have the ability to deliver accurate and loud volume, enough to fill up a medium size room.
Play any kind of music on your laptops, the speakers will provide you good separation of a sound of drums, vocals, and guitar. There is a bit narrowness felt in the high tones.
Acer Aspire E 15 is featuring a Core i3-7100U CPU with 4GB of RAM and 1TB 5,400-rpm hard drive.
The Acer Aspire E 15 is providing enough performance for having light multitasking. You may experience bit lag if you opened dozens of tabs in one Window of Chrome and 1080p video in another.

But, if one of the tabs is playing video or downloading any type of large web page. The performance slows down, even the letters that are typed in MS Word appears after some seconds.
Let’s come to the benchmark ratings and scores. The Acer Aspire E 15 has managed to score a 5408 pts on Geekbench 4.
Geekbench is known as a synthetic benchmark capable of measuring overall performance. This score is much less than the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 with Core i5-7200U processor with a score of 6,742 pts.
But, it is better than the HP Notebook 15-ba009dx with AMD A6-7310 CPU having 3,291 pts.
Acer Aspire E 15 requires 5 minutes and 14 seconds for completing the Laptop Spreadsheet Macro Test. In the test, 20,000 names are being matched with their addresses.
The average laptops complete the test in 4 minutes and 1 second. The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 is faster than the Acer Aspire E 15 as it completes test in 4 minutes and 3 seconds.

But it is much faster than the Asus VivoBook E403SA with Pentium N3700 and HP Notebook 15. These two have managed to complete the test in 13 minutes, 31 seconds and 11 minutes, 40 seconds respectively.
Acer Aspire E 15 features 1TB hard drive, which is capable of copying 4.97GB of mixed media files at a rate of 36.6 megabytes per second.
This speed is slower than the result of Dell Inspiron 15 5000 and HP Notebook 15-ba009dx with a speed of 83.4 MBps and 40 MBps.
And, both of them are having 5,400-rpm hard drives. The VivoBook E403SA with eMMC memory manages to transfer files at 30.1 MBps.

Of course, you can be able to play full HD movie at Acer Aspire E 15. But it is recommended not to play high-end games on it.
In 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited, the Acer Aspire E 15 with an Intel HD 620 GPU managed to score 49,211 pts.
The average laptops’ score is almost 86,474 and Acer Aspire E 15 is well short of these numbers. The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 scores 60,475, more than Acer Aspire E 15.
However, HP Notebook 15-ba009dx and VivoBook E403SA have managed to. score 33,649 and 26,224 pts respectively.
Not like others, Acer allows its users to easily remove the upgrade panel on the bottom. Obviously, for increasing the performance of Acer Aspire E 15, you can upgrade RAM of Acer Aspire E 15 and storage drive easily and inexpensively.
After taking a panel off, you can be able to add 32GB of DDR4 RAM inside or you can eliminate the hard drive for 2.5inch SATA SSD.
The laptops feature only one of two memory slots filled by the company. Thus, allowing you to introduce 4GB of more memory for just $33.
For sure, the higher the memory higher the price will be, 240GB/250GB SSD will cost you $90/$100. But on sale, you can get low rates and high memory. So around $480, you can get a complete set of SSD, 8GB of RAM and a 1080p display.
Acer Aspire E 15 has a fine battery life. During a Laptop Battery Test including surfing over Wi-Fi, the laptop can last for almost 8 hours and 16 minutes.
This battery life is larger than the average laptops of the same category which can last for 6 hours and 52 minutes.
The Dell Inspiron 15 5000 lasts up to 4 hours and 25 minutes, almost half of Acer Aspire E 15.
The HP Notebook 15 and VivoBook E403SA can last up to 3 hours 36 minutes and 9 hours 2 minutes respectively.
Most of the built-in laptop webcams have been taking poor pictures but the Acer Aspire E 15 features 720p sensor, which is capable of taking good pictures.
It is hard to observe the minor things in the webcam because these things are filled up automatically and you can not notice where it was.

The company has certified Acer Aspire E 15 as best for Skype for business purposes. Which shows that its microphones, speakers, and a webcam can work properly with the enterprise-friendly conferencing software of Microsoft.
However, these laptops are having good image quality due to the use of a built-in lens. But we recommend you to use an external webcam if you have any plan to use it for work.
Acer Aspire E 15 remains cool and silent under light use. Well, the temperature of the touchpad is measured as 78 degrees Fahrenheit after playing 15 minutes of video.
However, the keyboard and bottom side of the laptop have a temperature of 84 degrees and 85.5 degrees respectively.
According to the recommended comfort threshold, the temperature should be at 95 degrees, but the temperatures of Acer Aspire E 15 is well below.

Software and Warranty
By default, the company has introduced a lot of helpful utilities in the Acer Aspire E 15. They are not harmful but most of them duplicate with built-in Windows 10 features.
The Acer Care Center will always be there to look for system health and check for updates on a daily basis.

Acer Power Button allows you to set functions for power button such as turn off the computer, sleep, hibernate or disable the display.
